There are only three weekends remaining in the 2021-22 Premier League season and the current round of matches will only ratchet up the pressure at the top and bottom of the table.
In the battle for the Premier League title, Manchester City (1st, 86 points) have set the tone with three matches remaining, taking a three-point lead and capturing the goal difference and goals scored leads. That follows a slip by Liverpool (2nd, 83 points) who were held to a 1-1 home draw by 5th-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
of course, Tottenham (5th, 62 points) were thrilled to come away from Anfield with a point. It only boosts their bid in the race to finish top four and secure a UEFA Champions League berth. spurs saw Arsenal (4th, 66 points) shove aside relegation-threatened Leeds on Sunday, setting up the massive North London Derby this week, as Tottenham hosts Arsenal on Thursday.
At the bottom of the table, it’s a dramatic race to avoid the drop between Leeds, Everton and Burnley. Leeds United (18th, 34 points) have dropped into the relegation zone after a loss to Arsenal, things are now complicated for Jesse Marsch’s side with third-placed Chelsea up next.
Everton (16th, 35 points) has emerged back out of the relegation zone with back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Leicester City. that means Burnley (17th, 34 points), who lost his three-match winning streak after losing at home to Aston Villa this weekend, is back in danger as well. Norwich (20th, 21 points) were the first team mathematically relegated with four matches remaining, and watford (19th, 22 points) joined them after an early May loss to Crystal Palace.
