The Lake Nona Wave Hotel combines luxury experiences with state of the art features for families, business travelers and corporate groups
Spread over 17 square miles, Orlando’s forward-focused Lake Nona business and residential community is a celebration of innovation, centered around a leading-edge medical campus specializing in research and education. Conceived as the neighborhood’s “living room,” the Lake Nona Wave Hotel is equally inventive, combining a luxury experience with tech-centric touches and programs highlighting diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility.
Created and developed by the Tavistock Group, the striking Arquitectonica-designed hotel takes its name literally, with a curving 17-story facade of undulating glass inspired by a wavelength of energy.
All 216 guest rooms, 16 suites and two penthouses are bright and eclectic, with vibrant colors, luxe finishes and graphic patterns. High-tech details are paramount, such as View Smart Windows—which use predictive intelligence to adjust tinting in response to the sun and outdoor conditions—advanced Toto toilets, voice-automated in-room controls, a bespoke mobile app and complimentary Wi-Fi 6.
Even more state-of-the-art are five signature Well+ech guest rooms specifically curated for a wellness experience that points to the future. The Restorative Bed by Bryte incorporates climate controls that guide the body through an optimum balance of sleep stages, while Nollapelli bedding manages moisture, temperature and friction. There’s also Smart Nora, which detects snoring and moves the pillow to provide relief, and Spoonk acupressure mats, which stimulate circulation to alleviate muscle tension and pain.
The hotel is ideal for families as well as business travelers. In the Living Room lobby, kids can browse through more than 100 books hand-picked by “edupreneur” Pranati “Pranoo” Kumar of Rohi’s Readery, a social-justice-oriented children’s bookstore, while at bedtime they can listen to stories read by Pranoo via the in-room tablet. And the pet-friendly Lake Nona Wave delighted our two Boston terriers, Bella and Rosa, who received bags filled with colorful artisanal dog treats and toys, as well as FurHaven calming dog beds to ensure that they got a good night’s sleep.
Guests and locals mingle in the vibrant Living Room Bar, where craft cocktails such as Thomas Edison’s Bright Idea (Lillet Blanc, Chandon Garden Spritz) can be served from lightbulbs. At the fine-dining restaurant Bacán, chef Guillaume Robin creates sophisticated yet approachable Latin American cuisine using products sourced from local farms and fishermen (ceviche-style hamachi, olive-oil-poached halibut, whole truffle chicken two ways). On the second level, the more casual Haven offers two distinct experiences: an indoor restaurant and a spacious sun-soaked pool-adjacent lounge serving Mediterranean bites (spicy fried calamari, grilled octopus, burrata and lobster).
Corporate groups can sign up for immersive team-building programs led by notables such as Russell Wilson, a Super Bowl champion, nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback and entrepreneur. Guests also enjoy exclusive access to 90-minute mindset workshops designed to unlock the power of the brain’s potential, as well as physical and mental activities situated throughout Lake Nona. Health and fitness venues include the 42-foot Rox climbing tower, the hotel’s Technogym-powered studio, the new 130,000-square-foot Lake Nona Performance Club and the first Chopra Mind-Body Zone created by Dr. Deepak Chopra. To wind down after work and play, don’t miss the Lake Nona Sculpture Garden, a verdant outdoor gallery housing pieces from The Lewis Collection, including Arturo di Modica’s Charging Bull, Mother and Child and Upright Motive by Henry Moore, and Fernando Botero’s Leda and the Swan. lakeonawavehotel.com
